Workshops Overview

7 – 9 October 2013: Joint Workshop on Frameworks and Market Approaches

A joint workshop was held to discuss the framework for various approaches, non-market-based strategies, and new market mechanisms. This session focused on understanding and advancing the implementation of these approaches within the framework of climate action under the SBSTA (Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice).

21 – 23 October 2013: Workshop on the Implications of Implementation Decisions

A workshop took place addressing the implications of decisions 2/CMP.7 to 4/CMP.7, and 1/CMP.8, with a particular focus on the impact of these decisions on the previous ones related to methodological issues under Articles 5, 7, and 8 of the Kyoto Protocol. This session was organized under the SBSTA.

11 November 2013: Workshop on NAMAs

As part of the SBI (Subsidiary Body for Implementation) work programme, a workshop was held to deepen understanding of the diverse range of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) and their application in various contexts.

12 November 2013: Workshop on Adaptation of Agriculture to Climate Change

Another workshop, organized under the SBSTA, explored the current scientific knowledge on enhancing the adaptation of agriculture to climate change impacts. Discussions emphasized how to promote rural development, improve agricultural productivity, and ensure food security within the context of climate change.

12 November 2013: Workshop on Gender and Climate Change

A separate session under the SBI focused on the intersection of gender and climate change. The discussions centered on how gender equality can be integrated into climate policies and actions.

12 November 2013: Workshop on the Impact of Response Measures

The SBI and SBSTA co-organized a forum to discuss the impacts of the implementation of response measures. This workshop emphasized the importance of cooperation on response strategies to mitigate the effects of climate change and support global adaptation efforts.

12 – 13 November 2013: Second Meeting of the Structured Expert Dialogue

This meeting was part of an ongoing dialogue aimed at advancing global cooperation on climate change. Experts gathered to exchange insights and approaches, facilitating progress towards climate goals under the SBI framework.

13 November 2013: Workshop on Lessons from Other Multilateral Environmental Agreements

The ADP (Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action) organized a workshop that focused on lessons learned from the experiences of other multilateral environmental agreements. This session provided valuable insights into enhancing the effectiveness of international climate agreements.

14 November 2013: IV Workshop on Pre-2020 Ambition

The ADP also hosted a workshop on pre-2020 ambition, with a specific focus on urbanization. This session discussed the role of governments in facilitating climate action within cities, exploring strategies for sustainable urban development and climate resilience.
